To prevent the child from suffocating due to air pollution, new mothers should adopt the measures suggested by the doctor.

The increasing pollution in Delhi is deteriorating people’s health. If anyone is being affected the most by this, it is the newborn baby. Due to pollution, their lungs are greatly affected. In fact, polluted air contains gases like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide in large quantities, which harm the lungs of the newborn. Due to this, he/she is unable to breathe and starts suffocating. Doctors believe that the lungs of the child should be healthy to protect him/her from air pollution. For this, the mother will have to breastfeed the baby regularly. Let us know what is the connection between breastfeeding and air pollution.

Mother’s milk keeps lungs healthy

Published in the National Library of Medicine According to the study Breastfeeding strengthens the lungs of children. Breastfeeding your baby continuously for 4 months has a good effect on his/her lungs. Let us tell you that healthy lungs give the baby the ability to fight infections and diseases, which can be caused by pollution.

Breastfeed for four months

According to some studies, breastfeeding for at least four months after birth creates a healthy gut microbiome, which keeps the child’s immune system strong. In such a situation, babies do not suffer much harm from the harmful pollutant nitrogen dioxide. If the child is born recently, then breastfeed him/her regularly for at least 4 months.

Risk of diseases will reduce

According to Gynecologist and IVF Consultant Dr. Malti Bhojwani, mother’s milk contains antibodies that develop immunity, due to which the immunity of the child increases. This also greatly reduces the risk of problems like allergies, bronchitis and asthma in children due to air pollution.

Does mother have asthma?

Even though breastfeeding protects children from respiratory diseases, if the mother has asthma, then breastfeeding the child will not be of any benefit. Rather, the lung function of these children will reduce. This does not mean that mothers suffering from asthma should stop breastfeeding. According to experts, mother’s milk is complete food for the baby. It supplies antibodies, which protect children from bacterial and viral infections.

Other ways to protect your baby from pollution

  • Plant plants in the newborn baby’s room.
  • Do not take the baby to traffic areas.
  • Install air purifier inside the house.
  • Keep the windows of the house closed, so that contaminated air does not come inside.
