Threat to bomb Air India flight, Singapore sent fighter jet to land, know the whole matter

New Delhi: There was a stir due to the threat of bombing 7 flights of Air India through social media. In a hurry, security agencies had to investigate at different airports. A bomb threat was received on an Air India Express plane in Singapore. After this the Singapore Air Force had to come into action. A flight had to land at a Canadian airport. However, after investigation these threats were declared as rumours. In the last two days, 10 Air India flights have received bomb threats.

Emergency landing after threat in Singapore

In Singapore too, a bomb threat was received on an Air India Express plane. The aircraft was landed and inspected. The incident occurred when Air India Express flight AXB684 was coming from Madurai to Singapore. The airline received a bomb threat via email during the flight. Acting immediately following this threat, the Singapore Air Force sent two of its F-15SG fighter planes to protect the plane. These fighter planes escorted the aircraft to Changi Airport, keeping them away from populated areas.

Air Force took command

Singapore Defense Minister Ng Eng Hen said in a post on Facebook, ‘We had to activate our ground-based defense air. When the plane landed safely, it was handed over to the airport police. Flight AXB684 landed at Changi Airport at around 10:04 pm, about an hour behind schedule. The incident was one of several involving flights from India that were disrupted by bomb threats on Monday and Tuesday. Singapore’s Defense Minister praised the promptness and professionalism of its military and security forces.

Threat was received a day before also

A day earlier, bomb threats were issued on three international flights departing from Mumbai through social media posts, leaving hundreds of passengers and crew members stranded. However, these posts were later termed as rumours.

Bomb threat on these flights

Official sources said that an ‘X’ account issued bomb threat posts on seven planes, including Air India Express flight from Jaipur to Bengaluru via Ayodhya (flight number IX765), SpiceJet flight from Darbhanga to Mumbai. Air India flight (flight number SG116), Akasa Air flight from Bagdogra to Bengaluru (flight number QP1373), Air India flight from Delhi to Chicago (USA) (flight number AI127), Air India flight from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) to Lucknow. Indigo aircraft (flight number 6E98), Alliance Air aircraft coming from Amritsar to Delhi via Dehradun (flight number 9I650) and Air India Express aircraft from Madurai to Singapore (flight number IX684) are included.
