This state of Canada has tightened the rules for foreigners, it will be difficult to get a job!

Quebec Work Permit: It is becoming increasingly difficult for foreign workers to find jobs in Canada. Sometimes the Canadian government is changing the rules and sometimes the state governments are changing their laws. This is affecting all those foreigners who are currently working in Canada or are going to come here for jobs in the future. A large number of Indians are also included in this. In this series, Quebec province of Canada has also announced changes in the Regular Skilled Worker Program (PRTQ).
In fact, the Canadian province of Quebec is limiting the number of foreign citizens coming to it under the Regular Skilled Worker Program (PRTQ). Now only 25 percent people from each country will be able to live and work in Quebec under this program. This rule has come into effect, which is going to remain effective till October 9, 2025. The changes in Quebec will also affect Indians, because a large number of Indians go to work in the province’s largest cities like Montreal and Quebec City.

Why was the new rule introduced in Quebec?

Quebec Immigration Minister Jean-François Roberge recently announced the new rule. Roberge said the purpose of this rule is to bring people from different countries to Quebec, so that diversity remains here. he/she said that among the applications received for the Regular Skilled Worker Program in 2024, the number of people from different countries is very less. This is the reason why now the state government has decided that more than 25 percent control of the people of any country will not be accepted.

The rule will apply only to the regular skilled worker program.

According to the report of CIC News, the Quebec government said that for the time being this rule will apply only to the Regular Skilled Worker Program. However, in the future it may also be applied to the Skilled Worker Selection Program (PSTQ), which is going to replace the PRTQ. Here the government has made it clear that the new rules will not affect French speaking people. The official language in Quebec is French and is used by the vast majority of people in everyday life.

What is Regular Skilled Worker Programme?

Quebec has a slightly different approach to skilled immigration compared to the rest of Canada’s provinces and territories. Canada has different rules for permanent residency. Similarly, in Quebec, Regular Skilled Worker Program is run to provide permanent residency. Applicants for immigration to Quebec must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the Arima Pool. The Government of Quebec evaluates and scores candidates based on several criteria.

These criteria include age, education, language proficiency, work experience, family status, job offer letter and having family members in Quebec. Every parameter plays an important role in deciding the marks for the candidate. It shows the kind of people the province needs. Under the scoring grid for the Regular Skilled Worker Programme, candidates get higher marks for knowledge of French as compared to English.

The Government of Quebec selects the candidates with the highest scores from the pool and sends them invitations. Candidates are then required to apply on the Mon Project Québec portal, the website of the Ministry of Immigration, de la Francization et de l’Integration (MIFI). If the candidate is successful, the Quebec Government issues him/her or her a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ). This certificate is required by the candidate to apply for permanent residence from the Central Government of Canada.
