This rare breed donkey milk is not less than medicine, know why sells in thousands of rupees liters

New Delhi : Even though donkeys are identified as an animal carrying a burden, they are discussed around the world. This proves that not all donkeys are the same. The donkey of the Halari breed found in the Halar region of Gujarat is not only precious, but due to its qualities it has the status of VVIP. Halari breed donkey milk is considered ‘liquid gold’.

What is the specialty of milk

Halali breed donkey milk sells very expensive. Its milk is considered better for nutrients as well as skin. This is the reason that it costs from Rs 5,000 to 7,000 per liter on some online platforms. However, there are some challenges with this specialty with a halary breed. This is the decrease in the number of donkeys of this breed. Due to the remaining less than 500 insertion donkeys in the country, the primary requirement is certainly protected by them. However, the major objective is not only to increase their number. Farmers also have to teach that they can earn more than them.

Search for gold

The National Horse Research Center (NRCE) at Bikaner has launched a dedicated program for the protection of these animals. NRCE is also evaluating donkey milk, so that its possible use in the skincare products to maintain its high value can be seen. NRCE chief SC Mehta said that there are many examples of donkey milk being sold at skyrocketing prices, but less than expected.

he/she said, ‘Although it is not possible to sell donkey milk at such high prices continuously, it can easily get 300 to 400 rupees per liter daily. he/she said that we are testing milk for Skincare application. If the results prove to be promising, the high value of this milk can significantly promote the conservation of species.

Why is this breed special

Halari breed donkey is not only given importance to its milk, but its unique features make it particularly valuable for permanent dairy farming. Their humble nature, their ability to adapt to various climate, make them ideal for small scale farmers. Their effect on the environment is also very low as compared to large animals. They require less fodder and water. In fact, their grazing habits also help to maintain pasture ecosystems.

Beauty with brain

Legend has it that the secret of the beauty of Egyptian Queen Cleopatra used to bathe with donkey milk. The jury can consider how much it increased in their form, but history suggests that donkey milk was considered priced for its nutritious and medical properties. Globally, many companies make specific cosmetic products using donkey milk. These include soap, skin gel and face wash. It has found compounds that hydrate the skin and prevent wrinkles.

More demand in south states

But this is not just that. Historically, revered, donkey milk is very similar to human milk for its medicinal properties. This makes it an ideal choice for infants with cow’s milk. Study also shows that it has its ability to regulate intestinal microflora, increase immunity and some ‘anti -diabetic’ properties.

An NRCE scientist said that Karnataka and Kerala already have two private companies, including cosmetic companies, which use donkey milk in their products. Milk demand is high in southern states. Donkey milk containing anti-aging, antioxidants and regenerative compounds is truly precious.

How will the lady breed survive

Selling milk in bulk is the next stage of the scheme. First of all, the conservationists are trying to save the donkey of the threats in danger. Their number is now only 439, out of which about 110 are male. In such a situation, several conservation programs including traditional ‘baby shower’ celebrations have been organized to create awareness among the cattle rearers.

Veterinary Inspector Narendra, who worked for the NGO ‘symbiosis’ associated with the conservation of the philanthropic donkey, said that earlier, he/she did not breed his/her animals, leading to a decline in the population. Now, under the network project for conservation, we are giving them information about the benefits of selling milk and its products at higher prices. In the farm, milk is sold around Rs 250 per liter.

… then it will be extinct in 5 years

In 2018, the Nodal Agency of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to register new breeds, the National Animal genetic Resource Bureau (NBAGR) gave the status of independent race to the alleged donkey. However, according to a survey conducted two years ago, his/her population declined by 71.3% in Rajasthan in eight years. At the same time, in Gujarat, Gujarat recorded a decline of about 71% between 2012 and 2019. A researcher warned that if the immediate measures are not taken, this breed would become extinct in the next five years.

Where did the name of Halari come from

Halari donkey has been named Jam Shri Halaji Jadeja’s ancestor Jam Shri Rawalji Lakh Jadeja. he/she established the Halar region in Saurashtra in 1540. These specific, white hair animals are larger than common donkeys but smaller than horses. Scientist and researcher Dau Lal Bohra said they are low maintenance animals. Farmers having five fare donkeys in their farm can easily earn Rs 1,500 per day.

To promote local farmers, the Bikaner Center has promoted the concept of farmers buying this species. The Bikaner center has 43 philanthropic donkeys. This is about 10% of their total population. Mehta told our associate newspaper TOI that we have started a program to monitor their diet and drinking patterns. We change these animals with different centers, which aims to increase the population to at least 1,000 animals soon.
