This Ganesh Chaturthi, don’t let the shopkeeper make you crazy, this is how you can identify the difference between clay and POP Ganesh idols while buying

The Ganesh festival which will begin on 7th September will be celebrated not only in Maharashtra but also in the entire country. Chants of Ganpati Bappa will reverberate in every street, neighbourhood and home. On Ganesh Chaturthi, many people install the idol of Bappa in their homes. Keeping in mind the environmental damage caused by POP or Plaster of Paris, they prefer clay idols.

When people go to the market to buy Ganesha idols, the first thing people get confused about is whether the idol they are seeing is made of plaster of Paris or clay. In fact, seeing the increasing demand for clay Ganesha, many times shopkeepers sell POP idols as eco-friendly Ganesha idols. In such a situation, it is very important to understand the difference between the two idols.

weight

A clay idol is always heavier than a statue made of POP or plaster of Paris. Actually, a clay idol is filled with fodder and soil. That is why it is solid from inside whereas a POP idol is hollow from inside because it is made with the help of a mould.

Fake

Fake

Ganesha idols made of POP are shiny. Due to the use of molds, these idols have better finishing than clay idols. POP idols are decorated with dark and shiny colors. The back and inside of the POP idol is white. Colors can be seen all around the clay idol.

Sound

Sound

When you tap the idol of Lord Ganesha made of plaster of Paris lightly with your finger, it makes a tinkling sound because it is solid. Whereas the opposite is true for the idol made of clay. Since the idol is solid, it makes no sound. It is very easy to understand the difference between the sounds of these two idols.

Immersion

Immersion

Clay idols dissolve easily in water, whereas POP idols do not sink in water and do not melt. After installing Ganapati, people are now preferring to install clay Ganesha for immersion at home. With the help of weight, texture and sound, you can easily understand the difference between these two idols.
