This food is considered powerful in foreign countries, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar told the benefits of eating it, eat it at this time

National Nutrition Week 2024: The general public is consuming more and more junk food under the influence of advertisements. For the last several centuries, we have developed the habit of blindly following foreigners, which we need to change. The truth is that junk food has very little Sattva, whereas our traditional freshly cooked dishes, fruits and vegetables have more Sattva.

Art of Living founder and guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says that our body is influenced by three main qualities namely Rajas, Tamas and Sattva, which play a vital role in shaping your experience of the world and your behaviour. When Tamas is dominant, it brings lethargy and inertia, leading to excessive sleep and lack of motivation.

In contrast, rajas creates a constant feeling of restlessness and a desire for external stimulation, causing your mind to remain agitated even in a calm environment. But when sattva is dominant, your mind is focused, alert, and joyful, leading to a natural feeling of happiness and balance.

Indian food is more healthy

Our Indian food system focuses a lot on nutrition. Also, traditional Indian food is disease-free and tasty. Curry leaves are used in most of the food prepared here.

For example, while fried foods increase cholesterol, on the other hand, the use of curry leaves keeps cholesterol under control. Our ancestors knew all these things and they always emphasized on the science of food. They also informed people on how to make food tastier.

For another example, take Idli, it is a nutritious breakfast. You will get protein, carbohydrates and amino acids in it. Due to the fermentation that takes place in it, it contains many enzymes. Also, the lack of fiber in it is fulfilled by coconut chutney. Coconut is rich in fiber. The main benefit of Idli is that it is low in calories. The fermentation process present in Idli promotes probiotics, which improves gut health.

It also contains iron and calcium, which are helpful in strengthening bones. Eating idli gives energy to the body and it also helps in controlling blood sugar levels. That is why idli is a complete diet in itself. It is also perfect for children and the elderly as it is easy to chew and digest. Many researches have been done on this in foreign countries and they have declared idli as the healthiest diet. Even today World Idli Day is celebrated.

Ghee is also added to idli which is good for health, but in limited quantity. Our ancestors used to say that food is purified by ghee. Now heart disease experts have also started believing that if we eat rice without ghee, it very quickly turns into simple sugar.

Then we may have to face diseases like diabetes and heart disease. But if we add just one spoon of ghee to it, it turns into a complex carbohydrate, its digestion slows down and this reduces the risk of diabetes or heart disease.
