The dream about the temple

It is said about the temple that Lord Vishnu himself told the king about the idol present in the temple in his/her dream. The ruler of Vijayanagara, Krishnadeva Raya, went to Srirangam one day and was mesmerized after seeing the temple present there. he/she also wanted to build a similar temple in his/her kingdom, then one day Lord Vishnu came in his/her dream and started telling him/her about the idol.

The eagle showed the way

The Lord told him/her in his/her dream that an eagle would take him/her to that place. The next day, Krishnadeva Raya started chasing the eagle. While chasing, he/she reached between Kothakota and Kanvayapalli hills and found the idol of the Lord there. he/she came back with the idol and built Ranganayaka Swamy temple near Pushkarini lake.

• If you are going here by train, then you can take the train to the station near Wanaparthi. The nearest railway station is Garhwal station, you will have to cover a distance of about 40 km from the station to reach the temple. You can also take a bus or taxi from here.
• If you are travelling from Hyderabad, Wanaparthi is around 200 kms away and from there you can take a bus or taxi to reach there.
• Wanaparthi is located at a distance of about 200 km from Hyderabad and you can use the bus or taxi there. Apart from this, you can also travel by private vehicle.
