There will be heavy rains in these states in the next 4-5 days, a big update on monsoon came from the Meteorological Department

New Delhi: After the scorching heat, good news is coming from many states of the country. Monsoon has entered many states and now its speed has also increased. Monsoon is still delayed in Delhi but the rain on Friday has given relief to the people. There was no bright sunshine on Saturday and it remained cloudy. Monsoon has knocked in some districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand. A red alert has been issued for heavy rain in Kerala.

In which states there is going to be heavy rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted that heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy falls at a few places are likely over Kerala, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal and southern Karnataka during the next 4-5 days. Heavy to very heavy rains were recorded at a few places over Konkan, Goa, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, East Rajasthan in the past few days. Heavy rains have also occurred at a few places over Kerala, West Bengal (hill areas), Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka (coast) and Telangana.Which way is the monsoon moving?
Monsoon is now slowly moving towards East UP via Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar. According to IMD, in the next 3-4 days, Monsoon will rapidly advance in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and parts of East Uttar Pradesh. Southwest Monsoon officially knocked in parts of South West Bengal on Friday. The Meteorological Department said on Saturday that Monsoon has reached entire North Bengal, where heavy rains are occurring. Despite the official arrival, there was no rain. On Saturday, a red alert has been issued for Malappuram district of Kerala and an orange alert for seven districts of the state, predicting heavy rains. IMD has also issued a red alert for Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts for Sunday. Southwest Monsoon arrived in Madhya Pradesh on Friday, three days late from its scheduled time. Monsoon and pre-monsoon rains are occurring in large parts of the state except Gwalior and Chambal region.

Relief from heat after rain in Delhi-NCR

Along with the warning of heavy rains in the next few days, the weather department report also said that heat wave is likely to prevail in some areas of west Uttar Pradesh from June 22 to 25 and in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till June 24-25, though it is expected to ease after that. The national capital woke up to a partly cloudy sky on Saturday morning with the minimum temperature settled at 28.6 degrees Celsius, the weather department said. People got respite from the scorching heat as rains lashed various parts of Delhi on Friday. Till 8.30 am on Saturday, the city received 4 millimetres (mm) of rain in the last 24 hours.
