There will be a mega clash at the box office in August, if films are postponed at the last moment then the cost increases

The release dates of big budget South films being postponed have affected the release dates of many Bollywood films. Due to this, many Bollywood films have also had to change their release dates. Here is a report:

The sequel of Allu Arjun’s superhit film ‘Pushpa’ released in the year 2021, ‘Pushpa 2’ was to be released on August 15 this year, but at the last moment the makers postponed it to December this year. The reason for this is said to be the incomplete work of the film’s VFX. Due to no Bollywood film being a blockbuster till now, the film people had high expectations from ‘Pushpa’, but now with this film being postponed, the schedule of all Bollywood films has definitely got spoiled. Actually, Rohit Shetty’s Ajay Devgan starrer film ‘Singham Again’ was also to be released on August 15 this year, but it was postponed to avoid a clash with ‘Pushpa 2’. Now Ajay Devgan will compete with Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ on Diwali. Of course, now with the postponement of ‘Pushpa 2’, the schedule of Ajay Devgan’s films has got messed up. Actually, his/her film ‘Raid 2’ is already announced for release in November. But now when ‘Singham’ will be released on Diwali at the end of October, it seems difficult for ‘Raid 2’ to release in November. There is a discussion that this film will be postponed or it can be released earlier.

Mega clash will happen in August

The postponement of ‘Pushpa 2’ has not only affected Ajay Devgan’s film ‘Singham 2’, but due to its postponement, there is talk of postponing Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Chhava’, which was to release in December, also getting postponed. On the other hand, after ‘Pushpa’ vacated the field on 15 August, many other films have staked their claim on this release date. John Abraham’s film ‘Veda’ was the first to announce to challenge ‘Pushpa 2’. After that, Akshay Kumar postponed the release of his/her film ‘Khel Khel’ from September to Independence Day. The makers of ‘Stree 2’ have also announced that it will release on 15 August instead of the end of August. Apart from these, the makers of South cinema’s Sanjay Dutt starrer film ‘Double Smart’ have also postponed their film from June and announced its release for Independence Day. There is talk that some other films may also release on this release date.

There is talk of ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ being postponed as well

On the other hand, there is a talk of Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Welcome to Jungle’ releasing on Christmas this year getting postponed. If this happens, Aamir Khan’s Sitare Zameen Par will have a solo release on Christmas. Apart from this, many other films of South Cinema are also to be released this year. Currently, their producers are waiting for the correct release date. These include films like Chiyaan Vikram’s ‘Thangalan’, Surya’s ‘Kanguva’, Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’ and Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara 2’. Now it has to be seen whose game these films will spoil.

‘Postponement increases costs’

Talking about the release calendar of films going haywire in the second half of the year, producer and film business analyst Girish Johar says that if a big budget film gets postponed at the last moment, not only does its cost increase, but the schedule of many other films gets disrupted. The same thing happened last year when Jawaan was postponed. According to Girish, ‘This year, due to the films of big Bollywood stars not being ready for release, everyone had high hopes from big South films. But now the release dates of big South films Pushpa 2, Kalki 2898 AD, Indian 2 and Devra being postponed many times, the entire schedule of Bollywood films has been disrupted. Actually, when a big film blocks a release date for itself, then no other film comes before or after it. But if it gets postponed at the last moment, then the schedule of that entire month gets disrupted. Also, the entire system of the films releasing during the month in which it gets postponed also gets disrupted.’
