New Delhi. Ever since Rishabh Pant was not retained by Delhi Capitals, everyone was saying that this player is going to be the most expensive player. Every franchise would like to include this star wicketkeeper in their team. But what was the reason due to which Delhi Capitals and Rishabh Pant took separate paths. Pant, who was not released by Delhi despite being injured, how did he/she allow a fully fit and mature player to leave his/her team? Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has revealed this.

Lucknow Super Giants bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore in IPL mega auction. With this Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history. Parth Jindal revealed after the auction that the franchise tried every possible way to retain Rishabh Pant in the team but both of them did not have the same views regarding the running of the team. Parth Jindal told ‘Cricinfo’, ‘We had different views on the operation of the franchise. This is the reason why Delhi Capitals chose the path of separation. This has nothing to do with money.

he/she said, ‘Money has never been an issue for Rishabh. Money was never an issue for us either. I think the three of us (Kiran Grandhi, Jindal and Pant) did not have the same thinking. Jindal said, ‘he/she (Pant) finally took a decision. We tried everything, but he/she had made up his/her mind to move ahead.

When asked about the issues of difference, Parth Jindal said, ‘It is related to the operation of the franchise. We had certain expectations from them and they had certain expectations from us. All I can say is that we could not agree on some things. Jindal said that the team management had realized that buying Pant back from the auction was an impossible task.

he/she said, ‘The moment we did not retain him/her, I knew it would be a difficult decision to bring him/her back. We used ‘right-to-match’ for that for Rs 20.25 (crore), but then the budget became too much. We were ready to increase it to Rs 22-23 (crore).

Delhi Capitals tried to buy Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer in the IPL auction, but could not do so due to the rising prices. After this the team bought KL Rahul. KL Rahul can also be seen captaining the team in the next season. However, Parth Jindal made it clear that no decision has been taken yet regarding captaincy.
