We have all seen the normal Kanwar Yatra. Its rules are very simple and easy. The best thing about it is that the Kanwariyas can rest anytime in the middle of the way and then start the journey again. Although Kanwar Yatra is done on foot, but nowadays people carry water on vehicles and offer it to the Shivling. This type of Kanwar Yatra is popular in Bihar and Jharkhand, which is called Bol Bam.

The Khadi Kavad Yatra is a little more difficult than the normal journey. Therefore, it should be chosen carefully. Because in this Kavad Yatra, one has to walk continuously. In this, there are two to three Kanwariyas with one Kavad. When one gets tired, the other one walks with the Kavad. This is because the Kavad is not kept on the ground during the journey. This is why it is called Khadi Kavad Yatra.

The Dak Kavad Yatra is even more difficult. To follow its rules, the Shiv devotee has to be very strong. Because in this journey, one has to carry the Kavad on the back and walk continuously. The Dak Kavads that go from Sultanganj in Bihar to Deoghar, have to perform the Abhishek of the Shivling of Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar within 24 hours. If this is not done, this journey is considered incomplete. Therefore, the roads are cleared for this journey.

Dandi Kanwar Yatra

You must have seen this journey in big Shiva temples. It is also called Danda Pranam Kanwar Yatra. This is such a difficult journey that it may take a week or a month to complete. In this journey, Shiva devotees go from Ganga Ghat to Shiva temple by doing Dandavat Pranam. That is, the devotee lies down on the ground and moves forward by measuring his/her total length including his/her hands. In this, the traveler can rest if he/she wants and if he/she wants, he/she can walk continuously. A person is always with him/her to help him/her.
