New Delhi: The whole country is boiling over the Kolkata woman doctor case. There is a demand for justice from all sides. The CBI is conducting its investigation and many revelations have been made in the past few days. This incident has shaken every citizen from within. PM Modi himself had said from the ramparts of the Red Fort that such brutes should not be spared. Today, while addressing the National Conference of District Judiciary, Prime Minister Modi again reiterated the need for women’s safety. he/she said that immediate action should be taken against criminals who target women and children.Modi talked about ‘strict law’
Addressing the National Conference of District Judiciary in Delhi, Modi said that many stringent laws have been made in the country for the safety of women, but we need to make it more proactive. The faster the decisions are taken in cases related to atrocities against women, the more assured safety will be to half the population. The Prime Minister’s remarks on women’s safety come again in the wake of nationwide outrage over the Kolkata rape-murder case.

Reply to Mamta Banerjee’s second letter
On Friday, Union Women and Child Development Minister Anapurna Devi reiterated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s earlier letter to Prime Minister Modi, demanding stringent punishment for heinous crimes like rape and rape-murder. The WCD minister noted that stringent penalties for rape with rape/murder already exist in the “Indian Justice Code (BNS)”. It provides for rigorous imprisonment for rape for a minimum of 10 years and extendable to life imprisonment for the remainder of the convict’s natural life or death, depending on the gravity of the offence.
