The biggest example of engineering miracle is going to be seen in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, where the world’s highest bridge is almost ready. This bridge is built over the Chenab River and its height is approximately 359 meters (1,178 feet), which is even higher than the famous Eiffel Tower of Paris. First train between Sangaldan to Reasi

According to the news, the first train between Sangaldan to Reasi is expected to be launched on June 30, which will connect Reasi district of Jammu with Kashmir with the help of railway line. Let us tell you, Chenab Bridge is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project of Indian Railways, which is doing the important work of connecting Kashmir Valley to other parts of India.

  • ​Many other things have also been taken into account in the construction of the bridge, such as it has been designed to withstand extreme conditions, including temperatures up to -40°C and activities such as earthquakes.
  • The first phase of this project, the 118 km Qazigund-Baramulla section, was inaugurated in October 2009, followed by the 18 km Banihal-Qazigund section in June 2013 and the 25 km Udhampur-Katra section in July 2014.
  • High factors of environmental protection have been followed in the construction, along with the protection of the river and surrounding flora and fauna habitats.

It took 22 years to build the bridge

  • ​The Chenab Bridge connecting Kashmir is higher than the Eiffel Tower of Paris, where height of eiffel tower is 330 meters, whereas the height of this bridge is 359. When trains pass through this bridge, you will feel as if you are sitting in the clouds.
  • It has taken about 22 years to build the bridge. Railways started the construction of this bridge in the year 2003. It is going to be completely ready after about 22 years in 2025.
