The strength of Army artillery will be seen on the line of duty, Pinaka will also be there along with the grad in the new avatar.

New Delhi: The might of the Indian Army’s artillery will also be seen on the duty path in the Republic Day Parade. The Indian Army has three types of multi-barrel rockets – Russian Grad, Smerch and indigenous Pinaka (Agnibaan). The parade will see Pinaka Multilaunch Rocket System and Grad Rocket Launcher on the duty path. Grad will be in its new avatar this time.

Indigenous Pinaka multibarrel rocket will be visible

Pinaka multibarrel rocket (Agnibaan) started being launched in the Indian Army during the Kargil war. This is indigenous. Its caliber is 214mm. Its range is 40 kilometers. Each rocket launcher of Pinaka has 12 rockets. One battery of Pinaka consists of 6 vehicles i.e. 72 rockets. One battery can fire 72 rockets in 44 seconds. Work is going on to increase the range of Pinaka rocket. Pinaka rocket with 75 km range has been tested and is ready to be included in the Indian Army. There are also plans to increase its range to 90 kilometers, 120 kilometers and 300 kilometers. The Indian Army currently has four Pinaka regiments. 6 more regiments have been approved.

Grad rocket launcher will be in new avatar

The Grad rocket launcher that will be seen in the Republic Day parade this time will be in a new avatar. Indian Army has updated the old Grad vehicle. The Grad multibarrel rocket launcher was previously on the Russian vehicle Ural-375. This career has become old. The Indian Army has replaced this vehicle and replaced it with an Ashok Leyland truck. Therefore, the Grad BM-21 which will be seen on the duty line, has an old launcher but a new carrier.

Grad was purchased from Russia 40 years ago

India had purchased Grad from Russia about 40 years ago. It was used extensively in the Kargil war. It can hit up to 50 kilometers. Its caliber is 122 mm i.e. 122 mm rockets are fired from it. One launcher holds 40 rockets that can be fired every two seconds.
