New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla responded to the allegations of opposition leaders of switching off the mike. he/she said that the House runs according to the seat system. The person sitting on the seat does not have the control or remote of the mike. Opposition leaders also sit on this seat. In such a situation, it is not right to make such allegations. Let us tell you that on Friday, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had accused the Speaker of switching off the mike. Lok Sabha Speaker responded to him/her without naming him/her.

‘The speaker does not have control of the mic’
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Monday, ‘One issue is a matter of serious concern for me, the House should also express concern on this, many honourable members allege outside that the Speaker or the person sitting on the chair switches off their mike. You have been here for many years, you have experience, you are senior to me, you have been in the old House as well as the new House. The order is maintained from the Chair, the person whose name is called speaks, the Chair gives the order, the other name is called and he/she speaks. The mike is controlled from the Chair as per the order.’

‘It is not right to make such allegations’he/she further said, ‘The control of the mike, the remote is never with the person sitting on the chair. You also sit on the chair, people of all parties sit. No matter which party one belongs to, the House is run in this manner. This chair has always had its dignity, so I request you that it will be better if you do not make such objections. Suresh ji also sits, do we have control, Suresh ji said that we do not have control, you do not listen to Suresh ji.’
