The son of a brick-carrying laborer met with an accident while going for the UPSC exam, yet became the youngest IPS!


Safin Hasan’s UPSC Success Story in Hindi: Today we have brought before you a story of success in Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination (UPSC CSE), one of the toughest examinations in India. This examination is considered to open the doors to higher posts in the Government of India such as Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Many youth pass through difficult circumstances and succeed in this examination and also inspire millions of people. One such inspirational story is that of Safin Hasan, who at the age of 22 became India’s youngest IPS officer by succeeding in this examination.

Both parents used to work as laborers.

Born in July 1995 in a very ordinary family in Palanpur, Gujarat, Safin Hasan’s parents worked hard to raise him/her despite limited resources. his/her mother used to work as a cook and his/her father, apart from carrying bricks during the day, used to run a stall selling boiled eggs in the evening to earn his/her living.

Safin Hasan’s family has been going through a lot of hardships since 2000 when both of his/her parents lost their jobs in a diamond unit. Due to this, financial problems continued to increase in his/her life.

Safin got the inspiration to join civil services in his/her childhood itself, when a district collector came to his/her school. The honor and praise the officer received left a deep impression on young Safin and inspired him/her to aim for the prestigious UPSC examination.

Safin studied engineering in college with the support of his/her relatives, but his/her real goal was to pass the UPSC exam. In 2017, while on his/her way to appear for the UPSC exam, he/she met with an accident in which he/she suffered serious injuries.

Despite suffering several injuries, Safin appeared for the UPSC exam and later underwent several surgeries and physiotherapy sessions. his/her dedication bore fruit when he/she achieved All India Rank (AIR) 570 in the same year, becoming the youngest IPS officer in the country.

Despite many difficulties, Safin paid full attention to his/her studies and was a brilliant student. During times of financial challenges, he/she received help from his/her school, SKM High School, which waived off his/her class 11th and 12th fees.
