What is the rule of ‘Impact Player’

According to this rule, teams will be able to strategically field any one player as a substitute. At the time of the toss, the teams will have to name their four substitute players along with the playing XI. Out of these four players, the team will be able to use any one player as an ‘Impact Player’. Substitute can be fielded till the 14th over of the match.

The ‘Impact Player’ was first implemented in the domestic cricket tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This rule was used by the Delhi team in the very first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Hrithik Shokeen was included in the team in place of Hiten Dalal by the Delhi team.

991 players will be included for mini auction

A total of 991 players have registered themselves in the mini auction to be held for IPL 2023. This includes 714 Indian players and 277 foreign players.
