The royal family’s marriage broke up over a 73-year-old car! This case reached the Supreme Court, it is amazing

Dhananjay Mohapatra, New Delhi: The Supreme Court heard a unique case on Wednesday. The case is related to a special Rolls-Royce car of 1951. This car was made by HJ Mulliner & Co for the Maharani of Baroda. India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had ordered this car on behalf of the Queen. Because of this car, the marriage of the daughter of a royal family of Gwalior broke.

The bride never went to her in-laws’ house.

The girl and her family claim to be descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the admiral and ruler of Konkan. On the other hand, the boy’s father was a colonel in the Army and his/her family runs an educational institute in Indore. Both the families told different things about the engagement in Gwalior in March 2018 and the wedding that took place in Rishikesh a month later, but there was one thing in common in the claims of both the families. That is, due to disputes, the in-laws never brought the bride to their home.

The boy loves Rolls-Royce cars so much that he/she and his/her parents also asked for this car as dowry along with a flat in Mumbai.

A girl cannot marry again!

Senior lawyer Vibha Dutta Makhija told the Supreme Court bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjwal Bhuyan on Wednesday that the woman is stuck in a difficult situation as ‘there is no tradition of remarriage in her old royal community.’ The bench has appointed former High Court judge R Basant as mediator to reach a settlement between the two parties. The court said, ‘There is no such tradition now. Society has left casteism behind in marital relations. Some people may have objections, but it is not that she cannot marry again.

We know that attempts at compromise have failed in the past too, but why not try again.

The judge said that both the parties are embroiled in litigation and FIRs have been lodged. The bench said, ‘We know that attempts at compromise have failed in the past too, but why not make an attempt again.’ Advocate Makhija said that it would be better to entrust this work to the mediation center of the Supreme Court. It was he/she who suggested the name of senior lawyer and former High Court judge R Basant, who is an experienced mediator. Accepting the suggestion, the bench appointed Judge Basant as mediator to bring about reconciliation between the two parties.
