The ‘real effect’ of the dispute between India and Canada will be visible after 11 months! understand here how

Impact of India-Canada tension: India-Canada relations, which deteriorated after the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, have now deteriorated even further. Canada accused India of Nijjar’s murder, which New Delhi has rejected. The dispute has escalated so much that both the countries have even called back their diplomats to their country. However, this heat wave is going to prove costly for Canada. There is also a special reason for this, which is going to be visible after 11 months.
In fact, there was a decline in the number of Indian students going to study in Canada since last year. But due to diplomatic tension, this number is going to reduce even more. More than four lakh students are currently studying in Canada. Experts say that due to diplomatic dispute, Indian students may now become disillusioned with Canada. Its effect will be visible in the Fall 2025 session, when admissions will start from September next year. There are still 11 months left for September.

Students do not want to go to Canada for these reasons

Speaking to The Economic Times, education consultants said that there has been a 50 to 60 per cent decline in interest in admissions from students planning to study in Canada next year, especially at the undergraduate level. One reason is the current diplomatic tension, while the other reason is the rising cost of living in Canada, housing crisis i.e. shortage of houses and lack of jobs in the job market. Indians are feeling that now there is not much benefit in going to Canada.

These sectors will suffer due to Indians not going to Canada

When Indian students go to Canada to study, not only its education sector benefits, but there are many other sectors which depend on the students. Work from restaurants to delivery is done only by students who have come to study in Canada. CEO of Gostudy says, ‘Indian students are very important for Canadian educational institutions. This decline will not only impact the education sector but also other related industries and the housing sector.

The strained relations between the two countries will also impact jobs for Indians in Canada. Canadian companies may avoid hiring Indians, which could create a serious crisis. A large number of Indians are working in the country from IT to finance sectors, whose absence is going to have a direct impact on the economy. For now we will have to wait for 2025.
