The photographer scolded Manisha Koirala and said such a thing, the actress told the matter

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, who is garnering accolades for her role of Mallika Jaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi’, recently shared the difficulties and troubles faced by female actors in Bollywood in the 90s. She narrated an anecdote from the early days of her career. She said that once a famous photographer had asked her to pose in a two-piece bikini. But she refused because she used to wear bikini only while swimming. And after that the photographer scolded her. In an interview to ‘Filmfare’, Manisha Koirala said, ‘At the beginning of my career, I was asked to get photographed. And there was a very famous photographer there. I went with my mother. That photographer said, you are the next superstar and this is that. Then he/she brought a two-piece bikini to me and asked me to wear it. I told him/her, Sir, I wear it when I go to the beach or go swimming, but if I have to go this way to go to the movies, I will not do it. I will not wear it.’

When Manisha expressed her objection, the photographer scolded her. She said, ‘I told him/her that either you take my photo fully clothed, otherwise I will…’ The actress further said, ‘I remember he/she gave me a big dialogue. he/she said, ‘How can I make a statue from the clay that is shy of melting. I have not forgotten that even today.’

The same photographer clicked Manisha’s photo again

Manisha talked about the mindset of some people in the 90s. She recalled how the same photographer who scolded her at the beginning of her career clicked her photo after she became a star. The actress told, ‘Then the same person clicked my photo and said, oh, I knew you were going to be a big star. I don’t think anything bad about him/her. But that was the way he/she thought. his/her exposure was like this, so he/she behaved like this.’
