The phase we have gone through in the last 3-4 years… what did Hitman say after winning the World Cup

Bridgetown. Heartbreak is nothing new for India in major ICC tournaments and skipper Rohit Sharma said winning the T20 World Cup trophy on Saturday was something they wanted badly. India became the first team to win the title by remaining unbeaten in the 20-team tournament in the United States and West Indies.

However, batting first in the final match, Team India faltered after losing three wickets one after the other, but thanks to Virat Kohli’s brilliant innings of 76 runs and tight bowling in the death overs, it won by seven runs over South Africa, which was playing its first World Cup final in any format.

With India’s victory, most of the team mates cried. Rohit said after the victory, “It is very difficult to sum up what we have gone through in three or four years. There has been a lot behind the scenes. So winning this game is not just about what we did today, it is also about those past years, it is all a result of hard work.”

Rohit said, “We have played many pressure games where we were on the wrong side of the fence. Now we understand what to do when there is pressure. Today is a perfect example of what we can do with our backs against the wall. The match was going in South Africa’s favour, but we wanted it very badly.”

India created history by defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final full of ups and downs on Saturday and winning the T20 World Cup for the second time after a long gap of 17 years. After scoring a challenging score of 176 runs for seven wickets, India restricted South Africa’s challenge to 169 runs for eight wickets. Hardik Pandya took three wickets for 20 runs and Jaspreet Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each to finally make India the champion. India won the first T20 World Cup in 2007 under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
