The phase of talks with Pakistan is over, we are not the ones to sit quietly… Big statement by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar

New Delhi: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has made a big statement about Pakistan. he/she has said that the phase of talks with Pakistan is over. Now how should we imagine relations with our neighbour. he/she said that every action has a reaction. India is not passive. The Foreign Minister said at a book release program in Delhi that we will react if needed.

‘We will not sit silent’

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar said, ‘The era of unhindered dialogue with Pakistan is over… As far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, Article 370 has been abolished, so the issue is what kind of relationship can we consider with Pakistan… In such a situation, the question now is what kind of relationship do we want with Pakistan? Jaishankar further said that we will not sit silent. Whether the developments are good or bad, we will react to it.

‘Everyone has challenges with their neighbours’

Jaishankar also spoke about the complications between neighbouring countries. he/she said diplomatic relations between two countries, especially when they are geographically connected, can be challenging. he/she asked, ‘Neighbours are always a puzzle… Tell me which country does not have challenges with its neighbours?’

Hints given about relations with Pakistan

Jaishankar’s latest statement on Pakistan marks a major shift in India’s diplomatic ties with its neighbour. India on August 5, 2019 revoked Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. At that time, Pakistan’s top leadership had criticised India for the move. While India says Kashmir is an integral part of the Indian subcontinent, Pakistan claims otherwise. India has been saying for years that Kashmir is a unilateral matter of New Delhi. Pakistan is accused of funding terrorists who illegally infiltrate the Indian border to disturb peace in the valley.
