New Delhi. England has entered the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 by registering a thumping win. Defending champions England achieved the target of 116 runs in 10 overs against the USA. Chris Jordan and captain Jos Buttler played an important role in this victory. Jordan took 4 wickets including a hat-trick, while Butler batted explosively and gave the team a memorable win in 9.4 overs. Butler revealed after the match that he/she gave Chris Jordan a chance in the playing XI so that his/her batting order could be longer. But Jordan did wonders in bowling.

Jos Buttler played an unbeaten innings of 83 runs off 38 balls in his/her third match of Super 8 against America. he/she took his/her team to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup with his/her destructive innings. After the victory, Buttler said that he/she accelerated while chasing the target of 116 runs so that he/she could reach the top of Group 2 of Super Eight.

‘We had planned to play fast’
After Chris Jordan’s hat-trick, England defeated America by 10 wickets with Butler’s explosive innings and entered the semi-finals. Butler said after the match, ‘We respect America. And we talked about the fact that if we bat fast, we will do very well. After playing a few overs, we tried to hit fast shots in the air.’ Butler praised the bowling efforts of leg-spinner Adil Rashid (13/2) and Liam Livingstone (24/1).

We called Jordan to add depth to our batting: Buttler
Jos Buttler said, “Adil bowled brilliantly. Livi also bowled well. When you are not bowling in a match and then suddenly you have to bowl four overs, it is difficult. So he/she deserves credit for being ready.” The England captain also praised the bowling of comeback man Jordan. he/she took four wickets in five balls including a hat-trick in the 19th over and dismissed the tail-enders of America. Due to which the American team collapsed for 115 runs in 18.5 overs. Buttler said, “We had great options. We included Jordan to add depth to our batting and his/her taking a hat-trick in the World Cup is a great effort.”
