On 6th July 1999, the 17th Jat Battalion was given the task of driving away the enemies from Point 4875, this post was at a height of 6 thousand feet. The team was being commanded by 24 year old Captain Anuj Nayyar. Despite the large number of enemies, the Captain’s courage did not waver. Even after many comrades were martyred, Anuj kept moving forward risking his/her life. In an injured state, he/she killed 9 enemies one after the other, destroyed three big bunkers of Pakistan, but a grenade fell directly on him/her and he/she attained martyrdom.

The country feels proud of the martyrdom of the soldier along with his/her family. But there is one person who was shattered by this war. he/she is Captain Anuj’s childhood love. After waiting for 10 years, he/she was to marry Simran just 2 months after the Kargil war. But the engagement ring wrapped in the tricolor reached home with Anuj. Captain Anuj’s childhood love

Martyr Captain Anuj’s mother Meena Nayyar had given information about the soldier’s love story. According to her, Anuj liked a girl named Simran who studied with him/her. After understanding each other for 10 years, they decided to get married. They were also engaged and the wedding date was fixed on 10 September 1999. But fate had something else in store.

Before the martyrdom of Captain Anuj Nayyar, Mahavir Chakra winner, the second highest military award for his/her extraordinary bravery and valor in the Kargil war, it was decided that he/she would get married two months after returning from the war. But while leaving for the war, Captain Anuj Nayyar gave a ring to his/her senior and asked him/her to give it to his/her fiancée.

A symbol of love saved from enemies

Refusing to accept the ring, the senior of the soldier said that you should return it yourself. In response to this, he/she said that I am going to war, whether I will return or not, if I return, I will return it myself, otherwise you send this ring to my house and give my message. Actually Anuj did not want that the token of his/her love should fall into the hands of the enemy.

Captain Anuj was martyred in this war and when his/her body wrapped in the tricolor reached Delhi, Simran was crying bitterly along with the family. After Anuj’s martyrdom, his/her ring also reached home with his/her body. Let us tell you that Captain Anuj was born on 28 August 1975 in Delhi. his/her father SK Nayyar was a professor and mother Meena Nayyar worked in the library of Delhi University.
