The train has been specifically designed for Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) aged between 45 to 65 years from the low-income group, to reconnect them with their cultural roots. Let us tell you, this train is being run under ‘Pravasi Teerth Darshan Scheme’. This scheme is being organized especially under the Pravasi Teerth Darshan Yojana ((PTDY) scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs in collaboration with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), whose objective is to connect the Indian migrants with the culture of the country.

The Government of India will bear all expenses for the “Pravasi Bharatiya Express” train travel, and will also cover 90% of the return flight tickets for Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) aged 45 to 65 years from their countries of origin to India , but to avail the benefits of this scheme launched by the ministry on January 9, 2025, PIOs will have to pay only 10% of their return air tickets.
