Trilok Kapoor was the son of Diwan Basheshwarnath Kapoor and younger brother of Prithviraj Kapoor. Prithviraj Kapoor was already working in films and had earned a lot of name. Later, following his/her brother’s footsteps, Trilok Kapoor also entered films.

Debut in 1933, supporting roles were heavy on lead hero

Trilok Kapoor entered Bollywood in the thirties, and worked for nearly 50 years. In his/her five decade long career, Trilok Kapoor worked in more than 120 films. he/she made his/her Bollywood debut in the year 1933 with the film ‘Char Darvesh’. Trilok Kapoor became a character artist in most of the films and played supporting roles, but his/her acting was such that he/she overshadowed even the lead hero.

Ranked among the expensive stars of 30-40s

In the 30s and 40s, Trilok Kapoor had seen such stardom that filmmakers were eager to cast him/her in every film. his/her pairing with actress Noor Jahan was very much liked. Both of them worked together in many films. he/she was among the highest earning actors during that period.

Work with top heroines, lots of stardom but no star status

Trilok Kapoor had given more hit films than Raj Kapoor and worked with all the top heroines of his/her time. Apart from Noor Jahan, Trilok Kapoor romanced on the film screen with Nalini Jaywant, Meena Shourie, Sushila Rani Patel and Sulochana. But unfortunately, despite so much stardom, Trilok Kapoor was never considered a top star.

Religious cinema remained incomplete without Trilok Kapoor, became Lord Shiva

After the 40s, Trilok Kapoor started getting less important roles in films, then he/she turned to religious subjects and started doing religious films. he/she played characters ranging from Shri Ram to Lord Shiva in many films and became popular. he/she also appeared in the role of Lord Krishna in many films. Trilok Kapoor was also paired with Nirupa Roy. Both of them were well liked in the roles of Lord Shiva and Parvati. From 1933 to the 60s, Trilok Kapoor played lead roles in about 30 films.

More hit films than Raj Kapoor!
