The first budget of the third term, time to put the guarantee on the ground… PM Modi said before the Parliament session

New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament is starting today (22 July). PM Modi addressed the media before the proceedings of Parliament began. he/she said that the important session has begun. The country will keep an eye on this session. I have the privilege of presenting the first budget of the third term, the country is seeing this as a very dignified journey of the glory of Indian democracy. This is the budget session, we are moving ahead with the goal of realizing the guarantees that I have been giving to the countrymen. This is an important budget of Amritkaal. It will also set the direction for the next 5 years and we will come before the country tomorrow with a strong foundation to fulfill the dream of 2047.

  • It is a matter of pride for every citizen of the country that India is the fastest developing country. We are moving ahead with a growth rate of 8 percent. Today there is a positive outlook. There is a peak of opportunities in the country. This in itself is an important milestone in India’s development journey.

PM will appeal to let the proceedings of the House run smoothly
It is believed that Prime Minister Modi, while saying that the budget session of Parliament is important, can appeal to all political parties to discuss the budget in the House and let the proceedings of the House run smoothly. Earlier, in the all-party meeting called on Sunday regarding the budget session of Parliament, the government also sought cooperation from all political parties for the smooth functioning of the Parliament.

Advice to the opposition in the all-party meeting
While chairing the all-party meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also advised the opposition parties to be ready to discuss all issues with an open heart. he/she said that the ruckus and disruption caused by the opposition parties in both the houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – during the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last session was not appropriate for parliamentary tradition.

Concluding the meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh thanked all the leaders for drawing attention to the important issues raised in the meeting and said that these issues will be taken care of. he/she also said that we should maintain the sanctity of Parliament during the proceedings. The government is ready to discuss all these issues subject to the rules of the respective Houses of Parliament and the decisions of the respective presiding officers.

‘Running the Parliament is the responsibility of the government as well as the opposition’
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said after the conclusion of the all-party meeting that running the Parliament smoothly is the responsibility of the government as well as the opposition. he/she said that 55 leaders of 41 political parties, including the BJP, attended the all-party meeting. The leaders also gave many good suggestions regarding the budget session. All political parties put forth their issues in the meeting. The government is always ready to discuss any issue on the floor of the House as permitted by the concerned presiding officers under the procedure and business rules.

‘Cooperation and support sought from leaders of all parties’
he/she also requested the cooperation and support of the leaders of all parties for the smooth functioning of both the Houses of Parliament. he/she also informed that this session will be mainly devoted to financial business related to the Union Budget for 2024-25, which will be presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, July 23. The budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2024 will also be presented on July 23.

Economic survey will be tabled in the House today
On the first day of the session, on Monday, the Economic Survey of India will be tabled in Parliament. Necessary legislative and other important work will also be done during the session. During the second session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the 265th session of the Rajya Sabha, the government will try to introduce and pass six bills in Parliament, including the Finance (No. 2) Bill- 2024, Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill-2024, Boiler Bill-2024, Indian Aircraft Bill – 2024, Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill- 2024 and Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill – 2024.

Along with this, three financial subjects- general discussion on the Union Budget, 2024-25, discussion and voting on the demands for grants for the year 2024-25 and passing of the related Appropriation Bill, as well as discussion and voting on the demands for grants of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the financial year 2024-25 and introduction, consideration and passing of the related Appropriation Bill are also on the agenda of the government.
