Recognizing the important role of saints and mahatmas in the development of society in Haryana, after the Saint-Great Men Honor and Thought Propagation Scheme started by the Haryana Government, now making a new beginning, Shri Ram devotees i.e. staging Ramlila for the first time on Tuesday. Artists and officials of Ramlila Committee were honoured. Chief Minister Manohar Lal honored more than 325 Ramlila Committee officials and artists in a program organized at Purushottampura Bagh located on the banks of Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra.

On this occasion, the portal of Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana, launched especially for the elders of poor families in Haryana to visit pilgrimage sites, was launched. Under this scheme, people of BPL families aged 60 years or above will be able to visit pilgrimage sites for free. Inaugurating the portal, the Chief Minister said that since the launch of the portal, one railway bogie has been booked so far. He said that after January 22, the first batch will leave for Ayodhya. This scheme will also be expanded in the coming time.

The Chief Minister called upon Shri Ram devotees to become drug-free sentinels and said that they should give the message to the youth to stay away from drugs through their theatre. He said that to fight such social evils, cooperation of people like you is necessary in the society. Just as the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Panipat on January 22, 2015 and this campaign was made successful with the help of government efforts as well as social and religious organizations. The result of which was that Haryana, which was stigmatized as a state that kills daughters, is now called a state that saves daughters. Similarly, to eradicate drug addiction from its roots, along with public awareness, people who are trapped in drug addiction are to be rehabilitated and connected to the mainstream of society through de-addiction centres. People like you can play an important role in this noble cause by becoming drug free watchdogs. Praising the artists and managers working in Ramlila, the Chief Minister said that by staging the Leelas of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, you are actually doing a bigger job than you can imagine.

The Chief Minister said that after a long struggle, Shri Ram Temple is being constructed in Ayodhya today, it is a matter of pride for every countryman. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the grand Shri Ram Temple on January 22, 2024, on which day the second Diwali will be celebrated.

On this occasion, Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha also expressed his views. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, Dr. Amit Aggarwal, Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Director General of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, highlighted the many works done to bring the cultural heritage of Haryana to the world stage.
