The father had stopped leaving the house after his/her son hit 5 sixes, now he/she is in Team India…

Kolkata. Who can forget the 5 consecutive sixes hit by Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rinku Singh in the last over of the Indian Premier League to Gujarat Titans’ bowler Yash Dayal. These sixes made Rinku a superstar while for Yash they started a new journey to improve himself. By securing a place in the Test series against Bangladesh, this bowler proved that those who work hard never lose.

Team India’s fast bowler Yash’s father Chandrapal Dayal had stopped stepping out of his/her house in the afternoon for almost a year. he/she had to face taunts from school children after Rinku Singh hit five consecutive sixes against his/her son Yash Dayal in the Indian Premier League.

When the school bus passed by his/her house near the Karbala Mosque in Prayagraj in the afternoon, the children would chant ‘Rinku Singh…. Rinku Singh…. Five sixes….. Five sixes’. This behaviour of the children would bring back memories of that disappointing evening in Ahmedabad to Chandrapal. After this one over, while Rinku Singh emerged as a national hero, Yash Dayal had to face challenging times.

Chandrapal, a retired officer of the Accountant General’s office in Allahabad, chokes up as he/she recalls the incident in 2023. “For us, it was an accident. Whenever the school bus passed by, the children would shout, ‘Rinku Singh, Rinku Singh, five sixes’. It was very painful – why did this happen to my son?” he/she said.
