Delhi airport operator DIAL is planning to launch an air train to enhance connectivity between Terminal 1 and the other two terminals. As we mentioned above, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has the highest traffic and is therefore counted among the busiest airports in the world.

For this reason, “Elevated and At-Grade Automated People Mover (APM) System” will be implemented to facilitate movement across the 3 terminals here.

The project will be 7.7 km long

If reports are true, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has issued a tender to build this project. This new metro route will stop at four stops: T2/3, T1, Aerocity and Cargo City. The project will be 7.7 km long and will also eliminate dependence on DTC buses for terminal transfers.

At present, DTC buses had to be used to go from one terminal to another at Delhi Airport. Due to which it takes a lot of time. But now with the start of Air Train, this journey will be covered in just a few minutes.

Air train is not a new thing, it has already started in many other countries. And now it will be started in India too. Air train is usually free for passengers from all over the world, which runs between terminals.

Why is there a need to run air train at Delhi airport

Delhi Airport is the busiest airport in the country and every year more than 7 crore passengers travel here. This number may increase further in the next few months. In such a situation, this system is being started for better connectivity between the terminals. Let us tell you, Terminal 1, 2 and 3 are at some distance from each other and currently passengers travel between the terminals by road, which takes a lot of time.
