The condition of Muslims… Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei did not spew venom against India without any reason

New Delhi: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has commented on the condition of Muslims in India. India has strongly criticized this comment and said that the countries making the comment should look at their own record before speaking about others. Experts believe that Khamenei’s statement actually shows Iran’s displeasure over India’s ‘pro-Israel’ stance in West Asia and India’s delay in resuming oil imports. Iran’s Supreme Leader often tries to give a message by making such statements, which becomes important to pay attention to.Why no comment on China?
The Iranian leader did not comment on the situation of Uighur Muslims in China nor did he/she address India’s recent statements on Gaza. In fact, India is currently not buying crude oil from Iran due to US sanctions. Plans to resume oil imports from Iran this year were canceled after tensions in West Asia.

How much do you trade with Iran?

According to a note from the Ministry of External Affairs, India-Iran bilateral trade stood at $2.33 billion during the financial year 2022-23, registering a growth of 21.76% year-on-year. During this period, India’s exports to Iran were $1.66 billion (14.34% growth year-on-year) and India’s imports from Iran were $672.12 million (45.05% growth year-on-year). According to the Ministry of External Affairs, bilateral trade in the current financial year from April 2023-July 2023 stood at $660.70 million. Total trade has declined by 23.32% compared to the same period last year.

The real reason for Iran’s anger

India’s relations with Iran have improved in the last few years, but Iran believes that India is favoring Israel in West Asia and delaying the resumption of oil imports. Experts believe that Khamenei’s statement is an expression of Iran’s displeasure. India strongly objected to this comment and called them wrong and unacceptable. This statement of the Ministry of External Affairs comes after Iran’s supreme leader’s sudden comment on the suffering of Muslims in India on X and linking it with Gaza and Myanmar.
