The budget session will be no less than a litmus test for the government, both the ruling party and the opposition are preparing for this

New Delhi : In the first session, the opposition not only appeared aggressive, but also forced the government to go on the back foot in the Lok Sabha. After becoming the leader of the opposition, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi started cornering the government with a complete plan and the entire opposition was also seen walking in step with him/her. It has been decided that the sharp attitude of the opposition is not going to stop now and the series of confrontations in the House will continue. However, the government has called an all-party meeting on Sunday to run the House smoothly. Where it will appeal to all the opposition parties for cooperation for the smooth functioning of both the houses of Parliament.

Allies also have an eye on the budget
The Government understands that while its numbers in the Lok Sabha have reduced compared to the last time, it is in power because of its constituent parties, on the other hand, the BJP’s numbers in the Rajya Sabha have reduced. With the tenure of four nominated members ending recently, the BJP’s strength in the Upper House has now come down to 86. In such a situation, the Opposition will try to show its strength in the Rajya Sabha as well. While on the one hand all sections of the country are keeping an eye on the budget, on the other hand, along with the Opposition, the constituent parties of the BJP are also watching it with keen interest. There is a buzz that the TDP wants to see in the budget the provision of the financial aid and package etc. being sought for Andhra Pradesh.

Preparations to pass this bill apart from the general budget

In the current session, the government is bringing five more bills in addition to its general budget, where it will try to get all its bills passed. Apart from the budget, the government’s agenda includes the Boiler Bill replacing the pre-independence law, the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill 2024, the Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill and the Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill. The government has the numbers in the Lok Sabha on the strength of the alliance, but in the Rajya Sabha, some parties that were with it till now may not be seen standing with it this time. The BJD has announced that it will no longer support the government. In such a situation, there is a possibility that the BJD may be seen standing with the opposition on important issues.

Opposition’s sharp attitude, preparations to surround on these issues

On the other hand, the opposition has already started giving indications about the issues on which it will corner the government. The opposition is busy sharpening its quiver on all issues like inflation, unemployment, economic inequality, NEET exam and the conflict over Kanwar Yatra. Apart from this, the government is already seen on the backfoot on all issues like increasing rail accidents in the country and increasing terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir areas. All these issues will create problems for the government in the session. On all these issues, the opposition will directly target PM Modi. In fact, the way discontent is emerging within the BJP, recently the Sarsanghchalak has targeted PM Modi without naming him/her and Hindu saints like Shankaracharya have sided with Rahul Gandhi, due to which the top leadership of the BJP is also uncomfortable. It is obvious that all these things will give new courage to the opposition. At the same time, the victory of the opposition on ten seats in the by-elections held recently on 13 seats in seven states has greatly boosted the morale of this camp.

What is the government’s preparation

The way the opposition appeared aggressive in both the houses of Parliament in the first session of the current Lok Sabha, the government has understood that the upcoming session is also not going to be easy for it. In such a situation, the ruling party has decided that it will respond to the aggressive opposition in a strategic way. For this, while on the one hand BJP is talking to its constituent parties, BJP is preparing at its own level. Also, at the government level, preparations are being made to counter the attacks of the opposition. It is said that at present BJP is preparing to defend the government by identifying all those issues and presenting its stand on them and keeping in mind the points related to the possible attacks from the opposition.
