New Delhi. A big upset was seen in the 11th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Host USA created history by defeating former champion Pakistan in the Super Over. Pakistan needed 19 runs to win in the Super Over but Saurabh Netravalkar bowled brilliantly to give USA their second consecutive win in this World Cup. Saurabh conceded 13 runs by taking 1 wicket in the Super Over. Pakistan now has to face India on June 9. For them, the match against India has now become a do or die situation.

America (PAK vs USA) scored 18 runs for 1 wicket in the super over. Aaron Jones and Harmeet Singh batted for America in the super over. Mohammad Aamir gave away 18 runs in one over for Pakistan. he/she bowled 3 wide balls during this. Iftikhar Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman came to bat for Pakistan in the super over but Iftikhar returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs.

Chasing the target of 160 runs, the US team scored 159 runs for 3 wickets and tied the match. Steven Taylor and Monank Patel started the innings from their side. Both added 36 runs in 5.1 overs. This partnership was broken by Naseem Shah. Naseem ended Taylor’s innings of 12 runs by getting him/her caught by Mohammad Rizwan. After this, Andris Gauss along with captain Monank Patel added 68 runs for the second wicket. Both took the total score to 104 runs. Haris Rauf gave Pakistan the second success by bowling out Gauss on a personal score of 35 runs. Mohammad Aamir gave a big blow to the USA by getting Captain Monank Patel caught by Mohammad Rizwan. Patel was dismissed after scoring 50 runs. Aaron Jones scored an unbeaten 36 off 26 balls while Nitish Kumar returned unbeaten after scoring 14 runs off 14 balls.

Pakistan scored 159 runs for 7 wickets
Earlier, Pakistan scored 159 runs for 7 wickets due to the aggressive innings of captain Babar Azam and Shadab Khan. Apart from scoring 44 runs in 43 balls with three fours and two sixes, Babar also shared a 72-run partnership for the third wicket with Shadab (40) when the team was in trouble after losing three wickets for 26 runs. Shadab faced 25 balls and hit one four and three sixes. Left-arm spinner Nostush Kenjige was the most successful bowler for America, taking three wickets for 30 runs. Saurabh Netravalkar took two wickets for 18 runs.

USA won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first
US captain Monak Patel won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat. his/her bowlers left no stone unturned to prove his/her decision right. Pakistan lost three wickets for just 26 runs. In the second over of the innings, Steven Taylor took a brilliant catch of opener Mohammad Rizwan (09) at slip off the ball of former Indian Under-19 cricketer Sourav Netravalkar, while in the next over, Usman Khan (03) was caught by Nitish Kumar at long off while trying to play a big shot off the ball of Nostush Kenjige.

Pakistan completed 50 runs in the 10th over
Fakhar Zaman (11) hit a six off the first ball of left-arm spinner Kenjige but was caught by Taylor at short third man off fast bowler Ali Khan. Pakistan could only score 30 runs for three wickets in the power play. Shadab completed the team’s half-century in the 10th over with two consecutive sixes off fast bowler Jasdeep Singh. Opening the innings, Babar had a very slow start. After scoring 10 runs off 24 balls, he/she hit his/her first four off Jasdeep and then hit a boundary off Kenjige’s ball as well.

Afridi and Iftikhar take Pakistan past 150
Babar and Shadab hit sixes off left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh in the 12th over. Kenjige broke Shadab’s partnership with Babar by getting him/her caught by Netrawalkar. The left-arm spinner also got Azam Khan (00) out LBW on the next ball, taking Pakistan’s score to 98 for five. Pakistan’s century of runs was completed in the 14th over. Babar hit a six off Jasdeep but was LBW in the same over. Shaheen Shah Afridi (23 not out) and Iftikhar Khan (18) played useful innings in the end and took the team’s score beyond 150 runs.
