After Robert Pattinson’s The Batman performed exceptionally well at the global box-office, work on its sequel starring actor Bruce Wayne is in full swing. Part 1 sees Pattinson locking horns with The Riddler, and crime bosses The Penguin and Carmine Falcone. Rumors are rife about Batman 2 that the makers might bring back some of the major villains to take the second part up a notch.

New reports suggest that since director Matt Reeves and Alfred Pennyworth star Andy Serkis are returning to helm the sequel, producers are apparently brainstorming different stories. If all goes well, the two villains from the first film might make a comeback in Part 2 with a bang.

According to website The Direct, The Batman 2 is expected to see some of the original villains return with the film set to release in 2025. An insider revealed that Paul Dano and Colin Farrell will reprise their roles as The Riddler and the Penguin in the DC movie. If the rumor turns out to be true, he/she will become the fourth member of The Batman 2 cast after Robert Pattinson and Andy Serkis. Part 1 of The Batman saw Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot wreaking havoc in Gotham as he/she watched the city flood as a free man. The Riddler, on the other hand, was shown to be trapped in Arkham Asylum, with his/her cellmate being Barry Keoghan’s Joker.

Interestingly, Paul Dano talked about reprising his/her role in October 2022, saying that if he/she was asked to reprise his/her role in The Batman 2, he/she would probably be there. Talking about Pharrell, he/she is currently busy shooting for his/her HBO Max show The Penguins. Apart from the return of the big villain, fans can also expect surprises with new villains.

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman 2 will go on floors in November as the film is slated to release on October 5, 2025.
