Three immigration agents came to his/her apartment, but PHD student Ranjani did not even dare to open the door in fear. The agents continued to knock on the door. A day later, the agents again came to their door, but Ranjani was not there then. She packed some goods and reached Lagardia Airport. Then from there he/she immediately grabbed a flight to Canada and left America.

At the same time, when the agent entered Ranjani’s apartment with judicial warrant for the third time, she had left by then. Talking to the New York Times, Ranjani said, “The atmosphere looked very unstable and dangerous, so I immediately decided.” The Foreign Department canceled Srinivasan’s student visa on 5 March. The Department of Homeland Security said that they had received a video of Ranjani’s submission of himself using the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Home App on March 11.

When the Federal Immigration Agent came to Ranjani’s door for the first time, he/she did not understand anything. Ranjani said that he/she could not even understand why the foreign department suddenly canceled his/her visa without giving any response. Due to this, his/her admission in Colombia University was also canceled. The very next day Ranjani also got an answer to his/her question, when the Homeland Department said his/her visa was canceled due to alleged violence and terrorism advocacy and involvement in the activities supporting the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

My life and future disrupted: Indian student

Since leaving the US last week, Ranjani says that her admission from the university has been canceled without any clarification and she is not sure that she will be able to complete the degree for which she has been working for the last five years. In a statement to CNN, the Indian student said, “My visa was canceled and then my student status was over, causing my life and future to get disturbed. This is not due to any wrongdoing, but because I used the right to freedom of my expression.”
