There are 225 holes in this tower and it is said that during the reign of Alauddin Khilji, the heads of the people guilty of theft and robbery were hanged from these holes. This was done so that no one rebelled against Alauddin and thus they would remain in fear. At the same time, if the number of heads was more than the holes, then the heads of less important dead people were placed on one pyramid outside the tower.
