In his/her tweet on August 29, Yechury wrote that he/she was deeply saddened by the demise of Abdul Ghafoor Noorani, an extraordinary scholar of constitutional and legal matters. he/she invited me and served me biryani at his/her flat in Mumbai. he/she did this after reading my small booklet ‘What is this Hindu nation’ in 1993, which exposed Golwalkar’s ideology. Yechury further wrote that Ghafoor has been my close friend since then. Deep condolences to his/her family members and friends.
Noorani was an excellent legal expert
Renowned scholar, author and jurist A G Noorani passed away on 29 August at his/her residence in Mumbai. he/she was 94 years old. Abdul Ghafoor Majeed Noorani was born on 16 September 1930 in Mumbai. Noorani obtained a law degree from the ‘Government Law College’ Mumbai. he/she had an illustrious legal career. his/her writings on diverse subjects of law on constitutional matters found their place in the decisions of the Supreme Court. Noorani started his/her career as a lawyer in the city in 1953. his/her keen eye on constitutional matters made him/her very popular as a commentator on jurisprudence, history and political science.
