Many veterans including former England captain Michael Vaughan have raised questions on the pitch. Rishabh Pant was also hit by a bouncer on the left elbow. A BCCI source said, ‘Rohit’s injury is not serious. he/she himself has said that it is a minor wound. he/she will be fine by the match against Pakistan. This is not a T20 wicket and all the four pitches are like this. Thankfully, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant did not suffer serious injuries and they are fine.’

The pitch will be reviewed after the tournament
Ireland’s Harry Tector had to undergo a concussion test after Jasprit Bumrah’s ball passed through his/her gloves and hit his/her helmet. ICC’s rules are clear about the quality of the pitch. A review will be done after the tournament and if the pitch is bad, the overall rating will drop.
