The Border Security Force (BSF) has deployed two new battalions comprising over 2,000 personnel in the Jammu region to better prevent infiltration from the Pakistan border and curb the recent increase in terrorist activities in the region. BSF officials said. The soldiers of these battalions have been deployed as the ‘second line of defence’ just behind the BSF deployment point along the international border with Pakistan. These two battalions of the force were recently withdrawn from the anti-Naxal operation area of ​​Odisha and have now been fully deployed in the Jammu region.

Sources said the work was to be completed before the onset of winter, when it becomes challenging to secure the international border against infiltration from Pakistan. Sources said that personnel of the new units have been deployed in Samba area, some other sensitive areas of Jammu region and the Punjab border with Jammu. he/she said that many deployment points equipped with CCTV cameras have been created.

BSF strictly guards the international border

BSF guards the more than 2,289 km long international border in the western part of India passing through Jammu, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat. There is 485 km of this border in Jammu region, which is surrounded by dense forests and hilly areas. About a dozen BSF battalions are deployed in the Jammu International Border area.
