A report by ABP Desam stated that the officials were approached when their security guards saw that their house was closed for two days. Her husband was in Chennai at the time of the incident.

The police found Kalpana ‘unconscious’ and the police rushed him/her to the hospital. An official of KPHB police station said that according to doctors, the singer ate sleeping pills.
