Team India’s weakness against spin exposed, Rohit said – no compromise on intent

New Delhi. The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma has lost the second ODI against Sri Lanka. With this defeat, India has lost the chance to win the series. The first ODI of the series was a tie. Team India can level the series by winning the third ODI but it cannot win the series. Captain Rohit Sharma looked very disappointed after the defeat. Rohit said that the way I batted, that is why I was able to score 64 runs. I do not want to compromise with my intent. Rohit played an innings of 64 runs in 44 balls.

The Indian team lost the second ODI by 32 runs. Rohit Sharma termed the defeat as unfortunate and said that there will be a discussion on the way the batsmen played in the middle overs. Chasing a target of 241 runs, the Indian team was reduced to 208 runs due to six wickets by leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay, which once again exposed their weakness against spin. Rohit said after the match, ‘It hurts when you lose a match. It is not just about those 10 overs in which India lost six wickets for 50 runs. You have to play cricket consistently and we failed to do so. I am a little disappointed, but such things keep happening.’

VIDEO: This is called a real all-rounder… first he/she scored 51 runs with the bat… then took 5 wickets including a hat-trick and turned the match around single-handedly

Rohit said, ‘The way I batted is the reason I was able to score 64 runs. I have to take risks while batting like this. If you are not able to cross the line, you feel disappointed. I do not want to compromise on intent. We did not play well. I do not want to focus too much on the way we played. But there will be discussions about our batting in the middle overs. You have to adapt yourself according to the pitches. With a combination of left and right-handed batsmen, we felt it would be easy to rotate the strike. But credit goes to Jeffrey, he/she took six wickets.’
