Team India’s victory against Canada suffers a setback, forced to share points


New Delhi. The Indian cricket team has shown a strong performance in the ICC T20 World Cup so far. Team India made it to the Super 8 by topping Group A. Rohit Sharma’s team won three out of four league matches. In the last match, their hopes of winning against Canada remained unfulfilled. Rain spoiled the match and the match was cancelled without even a single ball being bowled.

All the matches of the first round of the ICC T20 are over. Rohit Sharma’s team, the favourite to win the tournament, won three matches in a row and secured a place in the Super 8. India wanted to continue its winning campaign and enter the next round by winning the last league match but rain did not let this happen. Not even a single ball could be bowled in the match and the match was cancelled.

What happened in the match against Canada
The match between India and Canada was to start at 8 o’clock according to Indian time. The toss was scheduled for 7:30, but due to rain the pitch and ground were wet and the umpires Richard Alan Kettleborough and Sharfuddaula postponed it for half an hour. The pitch and ground were inspected at 8 o’clock and then it was decided to do it again after 1 hour. At 9 o’clock both the umpires inspected the ground and decided to cancel the match.

India topped Group A
The Indian team started its ICC T20 World Cup campaign with a win against Ireland. After this, it won a close contest against its arch-rival Pakistan. Batting first, India scored just 119 runs but restricted Pakistan to 113 runs. After this, it defeated host USA by 7 wickets and confirmed its ticket to Super 8. The last match against Canada was cancelled and Team India had to share the points. India topped its group with 7 points in 4 matches.
