Team India’s special net practice, what was demanded from the ground staff

Mumbai Mumbai test match is going to be very special for India. The match is a battle of shame for the Indian team, which has lost the home series against New Zealand by 0-2. The batsmen worked hard to improve their performance against the stick bowling bowlers of the visiting team, especially the spinners. There is talk of a spin-friendly pitch in the third test also.

The net session at Wankhede Stadium shows how prepared the team management is before the final Test starting on Friday. Experienced batsmen like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not been able to perform as per expectations so far in this Test series. Before the third Test match, Indian batsmen do not want to leave any stone unturned in their preparation. For this, special demands were made of the ground staff.

Special demand made from ground staff
Before the net session, he/she asked the ground staff to draw extra white lines on the four practice nets. This is generally done so that the batsmen are aware of the line and length of the ball. In the first Test in Bengaluru, Indian batsmen succumbed to accurate lines and bouncing balls, while in the second match in Pune, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner took 13 wickets in two innings.

Unlike traditional spin, Indian batsmen had no answer to Santner’s balls. They were falling at the same place on the pitch of MCA stadium but some were turning while some were going straight. Head coach Gautam Gambhir wants his/her batsmen to enter the final test with better preparation.

India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nair said on the problems of his/her players that it is important to keep a close eye on the hands of the spinners. Nair said in the press conference, “You need to understand that when some balls are taking turn and some balls are going straight, it plays with your mind. At this time, it is very important for the batsman to understand how the ball is leaving the hand, which ball will go straight and which one will spin more.
