India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai: Due to the deadly bowling of Shivam Mavi and the explosive batting of Deepak Hooda and Akshar Patel, Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 2 runs in the breath-taking first T20 played at the Wankhede in Mumbai. With this, India also took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After playing first in this match, the Indian team had scored 162 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the Sri Lankan team could only score 160 runs in the stipulated overs. For India, debutant Shivam Mavi took maximum four wickets. And speed star Umran Malik took two wickets.

Team India won on the last ball

Chamika Karunaratne had almost put the match in Sri Lanka’s pocket, but Akshar Patel bowled with understanding in the last over and gave Team India victory on the last ball. Karunaratne scored 23 runs in 16 balls with the help of two sixes, but he could not win his team. Sri Lanka needed 13 runs in the last over to win.

Sri Lanka’s start was very bad

In response to the target of 163 runs from India, the beginning of the Sri Lankan team was very bad. Opener Pathum Nissanka 01, Dhananjay de Silva, who came to bat at number three, got out after scoring 08 runs. After this, Charith Asalanka also returned to the pavilion after scoring only 12 runs. After this, the set opener Kusal Mendis was also dismissed after scoring 28 runs in 25 balls. During this he hit five fours.

Dasun Shanaka’s captaincy innings did not work

After falling for four wickets for 51 runs, the Sri Lankan fans must have had high hopes from Bhanuka Rajapaksa, but he too could not last long in front of the Indian bowlers and returned to the pavilion after scoring only 12 runs.

Hasaranga scored 21 runs in 10 balls with one four and two sixes. At the same time, Captain Shanaka played an explosive inning of 45 runs in 27 balls. He hit three fours and three sixes.

Rapid innings of Akshar Patel and Deepak Hooda

Earlier, after losing the toss, the Indian team got off to bat first and got off to a great start. Openers Shubman Gill and Ishaan Kishan scored 27 runs in just 2.3 overs, but wickets kept falling continuously in the middle overs. Deepak Hooda and Akshar Patel made an unbeaten 68-run partnership for the sixth wicket in 35 balls. Hooda scored 41 not out in 23 balls and Patel scored 31 not out in 20 balls.
