New Delhi: Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack during the Dhaka Premier League match and was taken to a hospital in Savar, the outskirts of Dhaka. When Tamim had a heart attack, he/she was playing in the match between Mohammadan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club in Savar.
After feeling discomfort in the chest, the authorities initially arranged to take him/her to Dhaka by helicopter, but could not be brought from BKSP ground and was taken to Faziltunnes Hospital. Tamim has been playing local matches and commenting since his/her retirement from international cricket in January.
Dr. Debashish Chaudhary, Chief doctor of Bangladesh Cricket Board, quoted the local media as saying, “he/she was initially investigated in the local hospital, where there was a mild heart problem. An attempt was made to take him/her to Dhaka, but on the way to the helipad, he/she had a severe chest pain and had to take him/her back. Later the medical report confirmed that he/she had a heart attack. This is a difficult time for all of us. She is currently under surveillance and the medical team is doing everything possible to recover.
Talking about international cricket career, Tamim Iqbal started his/her international career from 2007 Harare ODI against Zimbabwe. This Khabu opener played an important role in excluding India from the 2007 ODI World Cup. In his/her career, he/she has scored 70 Tests for Bangladesh, 243 ODIs and 78 T20 Internationals respectively.
