Taliban appointed its ambassador in Mumbai, has India recognized this country?

New Delhi: After the meeting of Indian officials with Taliban’s acting Defense Minister Mullah Muhammad Yakub in Kabul last week, another big news has come to light regarding the two countries. Taliban-controlled Afghan news agency Bakhtar News Agency, quoting sources, has said that the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan has appointed a person named Ikramuddin Kamil to the Mumbai Consulate. It has been claimed that this appointment has been made as a counselor. There is no official response from India regarding this yet, but sources associated with the government have said that this is a young student, who has studied in India for seven years on MEA scholarship and has done doctorate from South Asia University. . This person has agreed to work as a diplomat in the Afghan Consulate to help Afghan citizens.

Sources say that as far as his/her status is concerned, he/she is an Afghan citizen, who is working in India for the Afghan people. Sources say that as far as giving recognition to Taliban is concerned, there is a fixed process for giving recognition to any government and there is a large community of Afghan people present in India and they keep needing consular services and in such a situation the Consulate And the Afghan mission needs more staff to provide good consular service. Obviously, the recent responsibility given to Kamil should be seen from this perspective.

Has India recognized the Taliban government?

Earlier last Thursday, the Indian government had admitted that Joint Secretary JP Singh, who looks after the work of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan, had met with Afghanistan’s acting Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yacob. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson acknowledged that this was the first official meeting with the interim Defense Minister of Afghanistan. Let us tell you that India has not yet recognized the Taliban government. However, many representative level meetings have taken place between the two countries.
