Kabul: Taliban is now in power in Afghanistan. In such a situation, the biggest concern for India is to restart its investments and projects. Last week, the Taliban held a meeting regarding this and sought more investment. In this meeting, the Taliban has demanded Indian investment and the resumption of infrastructure projects supported by India. The meeting took place between Taliban Minister for Urban Development and Housing Hamdullah Nomani and Bharat Kumar, head of India’s technical team in the country.
Taliban’s Suhail Shaheen said, ‘The meeting was focused on the issue of resuming incomplete projects started earlier by India,’ WION News reported. Along with this, talks were also held on building a new Kabul city with Indian investment. Security of Indian investment has been assured in the meeting. India has been responsible for the country’s major infrastructure projects, from the Parliament House in Kabul to the India-Afghanistan Friendship Dam in Herat, before the Taliban came to power.

The implementation of the projects was affected after the Taliban came to power in August last year. India had pulled out its ambassadors from the country after the Taliban entered the country. India still does not recognize the Taliban government. In June, India announced that it would deploy its technical team for humanitarian assistance.
