‘Take the one who gets the lowest price’, Mandakini had told – how the makers used to threaten then

The ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ actress did films like ‘Dance Dance’ with Mithun Chakraborty, ‘Kahan Hai Kanoon’ with Aditya Pancholi and ‘Pyaar Karke Dekho’ with Govinda and then stayed away from the industry. Recalling the times gone by some time ago, he/she told in the interview that at that time there used to be huge difference in the salary of hero and heroine and how the directors used to keep pressure on them.

‘With what mentality did the directors and producers work?’

While talking to Pinkvilla, Mandikini had said, ‘Suppose someone told me a film and I said yes to it. After this, within just 2-3 days he/she would announce signing the film with someone else. She would say that we just have to do 2-3 songs, if she doesn’t do it then she will do it. Whoever gets the lowest price, take it. The actress had told that at that time directors and producers used to work with this mentality.

Only Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh fee for the entire film

he/she told that at that time actresses used to get only Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh as fees for the entire film. Mandakini had also told that many times directors and producers used to tell her that she charges Rs 1.5 lakh and hence they replace her with someone else who agrees to do the role for Rs 75,000.
