Taiwan has detected 23 Chinese military aircraft and 6 naval ships near its territory

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported the detection of 23 Chinese military aircraft and six naval vessels near the island, with 16 aircraft crossing the median line and entering Taiwan’s airspace.

In a post shared on Twitter, the MND said, “23 PLA aircraft and 6 PLAN ships operating around Taiwan were detected as of 6am today (UTC+8). 16 aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern, southwestern, and eastern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”

Meanwhile, the MND on Sunday reported the presence of five Chinese military aircraft and five naval ships near the island.

In a post shared on Twitter, the MND said, “As of 6am today (UTC+8), five PLA aircraft and five PLAN ships were detected flying in the vicinity of Taiwan. Three aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded accordingly.”

Military activity was also reported on Saturday when seven Chinese military aircraft and five naval ships were in the vicinity of its area

Earlier, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense visited Xi to share the inauguration of the new barracks of the ROC Armed Forces Airborne Training Center. It said that with next-generation training methods and gear, the base will equip Army paratroopers and special warfare warriors to enhance their combat capabilities.

Recently, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had also criticized China’s stance. “We need to be clear-eyed about China’s ambitions,” he/she said. China is massively building up its forces, including its nuclear weapons – without any transparency and without any limits. From 200 weapons in 2020, China is expected to have more than 1,000 nuclear weapons by 2030. Its space-launch investments are skyrocketing. China is threatening Taiwan, and accessing our critical infrastructure in a way that could paralyze our society.

The Taiwan Strait remains a focal point of heightened tensions, with Taiwanese officials repeatedly condemning the increase in Chinese military operations as a direct threat to the island’s sovereignty and regional peace. However, China, which considers Taiwan part of its territory, ultimately insists on reunification, by force if necessary.
