Taiwan detects increasing Chinese activity around its territory




Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) reported Chinese military activity on Friday, detecting 12 People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, five People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) ships and one official ship.

The Taiwanese MND said nine aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s southwestern ADIZ.

In a post on Twitter, Taiwan’s MND said, “12 PLA aircraft, 5 PLAN ships and 1 official ship operating around Taiwan were detected as of 6am today (UTC+8). 9 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern, central, and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded.”

Chinese activity has increased around the Taiwan Strait.

On Friday, the Taiwanese MND detected 11 Chinese aircraft and five ships in the vicinity.
